Rylins Room

This is the MiGi Pinwheel Collection I've decided to do for my youngest. I chose a paint color to match as closely as possible to the image below.
I'm a little disappointed that the lamp that goes with it is out of stock. I guess I could find something similar though, but isn't soooo cute!

Lighting

I love the lighting in this home. I'm trying to find some modern lighting for Rylins room that is not too expensive.

Featured Artist: Chris Natrop

Cut paper with watercolor, glitter and magic string; cut acrylic sheet; HD video projection...how to you even begin a project like this. As explained by the MOCA:
In And Further the dew drop Falls, los Angeles-based artist Chris natrop uses cut paper to transform MoCA’s galleries into a mesmerizing environment of freeform patterns that evoke nature and landscape. the show’s title, like the artist’s inventive process, reflects his interest in the concept of something emerging out of nothing. the artist uses the cycle and development of dew as an underlying metaphor for this new body of work. “water evaporates into the air and thencondenses as dewdrops, only to be evaporated again,” natrop states. In some areas of the exhibition light projections of water drops slowly descend the museum walls and are layered atop the artist’s organic cut-outs.
I wonder if this installation artist teaches classes. So hard to choose my favorite pieces so check out the website.

Create That Look

I found similar pieces (as my Love This Look post below) for a lot less at the Buckle. The top is $22, jean 69.50, shoes $20, and necklace only 5 bucks! Same look as above for a total of $116.50 opposed to $288 just for the jeans! Still can't match the quality of the clothes but you can steal the look ;)

Love This Look

Was I a hippie in my past life? Love this look from the Denim Factoria.

Typography

I found a new site for inspiration called inspiredology.com. I couldn't pass up posting a few of my favorite typographical pieces for my photo blog.

Detroit Architecture

I have always had a special place in my heart for Detroit seeing that my Grandmother (God rest her soul) was from this once thriving city. She would tell us stories of growing up in Detroit and made it sound so glamorous, but it was always so hard to believe given the only thing I really can relate to Detroit is a bunch of old broken down buildings in neighborhoods that are unsafe. I still have hope for the great city though, eventually it will be revamped and the center for urban living once more. I read the Design Guide (I recommend you read this if you plan on going to Detroit anytime soon, it is well written for many reasons) for Detroit on one of my favorite blogs. I loved the guide...it gives history along with present day hot spots...there was a lot I didn't know about Detroit. I decided to post this image, I got from the author of the article, of Michigan Central Station. You can only imagine what an amazing building this once was. See more images of Michigan Central Station.

Featured Artist

I discovered a new artist today in the new issue of Elle. Tauba Aurbach a San Fransico based artist, created the prints above using pen. The "K" print was the one featured in the magazine and I was pleasantly surprised to find she had others on her website.

Love This Look

I like the deep colors in this outfit. Love the jeans...that I could never bring myself to spend the money on. But this what I like to do...take a look I love and find it cheaper somewhere else. For example my entire house is decorated from the inspiration of Pottery Barn but the only thing I own from Pottery Barn is my curtains (which I got for a really good price from Ebay). Anyways look at this...

Love This Look

I love this look for so many reasons. Just take a look...the colors and textures, and it looks so comfortable. And it proves with the right layering you don't have to put away your favorite summer tops.
